Did Eagle River carry Demboski to the runoff? AK-Pipeline shares a couple of voter number cruncher maps of the recent Anchorage Mayoral election that show a huge line between Anchorage and Eagle River.
Use the map above to see which candidate drew the most votes in your neighborhood. That’s Berkowitz, a Democrat who represented Anchorage for a decade in the state House, in blue, and Republican Demboski in red. (The mayor’s race is a non-partisan job, meaning candidates’ party affiliations do not appear on the ballot, but supporters and donors often line up along party lines.)
The rematch is scheduled for May 5, when Demboski and Berkowitz square off head-to-head in a runoff election because no candidate received 45 percent of the vote.
